6/23 Recap: Twins 5 – Indians 3

Player of the Game

Drew Stubbs hit a solo shot in the bottom of the 7th inning. This home run brought the Indians within one run of the Twins.

Feathers Up

Jason Kipnis continues to stay hot. He hit a single and 2 doubles today and knocked in the 2nd Indians run.

After sitting 6 games due to injury, Nick Swisher found himself back in the lineup. Though he didn't add anything offensively, his defense at first base was stellar.

Feathers Down

Carlos Carrasco was not the same person we saw in his last start.  Carrasco could not even get out of the 5th inning. He allowed 4 runs on 6 hits and walked 4 batters.

In the bottom of the 8th, the Indians had an opportunity to score the tying run, and even take the lead. With 2 outs, pinch hitter, Michael Brantley, singled and stole second base. Yan Gomes then walked, and Brantley stole third base. With Drew Stubbs batting, Yan Gomes stole the third base of the inning, swiping second base. With 2 runners in scorng position, Stubbs grounded out to the pitcher.

The Indians pitching staff added 3 wild pitches today, bringing their season total to 43, which leads the Majors by 8 over Seattle.

Final Score:  Cleveland Indians 3 – Minnesota Twins 5
