Series Preview: Indians at Mariners

The Indians lost the series to the Twins, but were able to salvage a win in the final game behind a spectacular start by Justin Masterson. The Mariners will be luck to avoid both him and Corey Kluber this time through the rotation and the rest of the rotation will have to step up in their place. Luckily for the Indians, the Tigers also lost their series to the Royals as well and they remain just 1.5 games apart. Now that we have entered the second half, we'll be playing much closer attention to the Central Division standings and the division record will reappear on the right side of the home page.

Game 1: Monday, July 22nd 10:10 PM EDT
Ubaldo Jimenez, RHP, 7-4, 4.56 ERA vs Aaron Harang, RHP, 4-8, 5.38

Harang will be facing the Indians for the first time since he left Cincinnati after the 2010 season. While he had good seasons with Los Angeles and San Diego, he has struggled with Seattle this year. His ERA is at its highest point in his career and his record largely reflects that and the Mariners struggles scoring runs. Interestingly enough, he has actually decreased his walk rate to a career low and has two complete game shut outs despite his struggles.

Game 2: Tuesday, July 23rd 10:10 PM EDT
Zach McAllister, RHP, 4-5, 3.43 ERA vs Erasmo Ramirez, RHP, 0-0, 13.50 ERA

Finally, the Zach Attack is back! McAllister has been on the DL since the beginning of June with a finger issue. It was originally thought that he would miss just a single start and the rotation was shuffled to get him right back in after his 15 days were up. Almost two months later, he is finally healed and has thrown a rehab start (six innings of shut out baseball for the Clippers) and a bullpen, without any pain. He was great in his first ten starts and didn't give up more than three runs or pitch less than five innings until his last start on June 2nd when he was removed due to the injury. He is expected to be activated just prior to the start of this game.

Game 3: Wednesday, July 24th, 3:40 PM EDT
Scott Kazmir, LHP, 5-4, 4.30 ERA vs Joe Saunders, RHP, 9-8, 4.28 ERA
