How to Handle Your Bear; AKA What to do with Carlos Santana?

Have you ever wondered where the Indians might be if Santana’s walks were base hits? If he could beat the shift a bit more and get guys into scoring or home more often? If he would just make that small adjustment, that we have all seen glimpses of over the last few years and commit […]

Trade Targets: Marcell Ozuna

After this past season’s let down, the Indians will need to change the makeup of their lineup if they wish to compete for a playoff spot in 2016. The Indians are certainly not going to be major players in the free agent market, although players like Jason Heyward and Chris Davis would look great in […]

Mid-Season AFL 2015 Update

This year, the Indians sent a handful of prospects to the Scottsdale Scorpions for the Arizona Fall League after a year of association with the Peoria Javelinas and one with the Surprise Saguaros. In the past three seasons, this is probably the best group of athletes sent to join with four other teams, despite the […]

Starting From Behind: Brantley Likely To Start 2016 On The DL

Even before the first pitch of spring training is thrown, the Indians will start the 2016 campaign “behind the eight ball.” Michael Brantley injured his right shoulder in mid-September (video below) and now he’s undergoing surgery to repair a “slight”  tear of the labrum, with Jordan Bastian of MLB.com

Carlos Santana: Are Injuries to Blame?

There wasn’t a player on the Indians’ roster who received more negative comments this season than Carlos Santana. Long been the divisive player, representing the current debate between analytical and traditional fans, Santana did not have the type of season fans on either side of the aisle came to expect from him. Many are now […]

Should the Indians Extend Cody Allen?

Before looking into the individual case of the current Indians closer, Cody Allen, I have to say that my general rule with relief pitcher extensions is never. Relief pitchers have a unique tendency in baseball to come on quickly and disappear just as quickly. There are hundreds of examples of this and very limited examples […]

What’s the Plan for Lonnie Chisenhall: Right Fielder?

As fans, we all have our favorite players. At a certain point there comes a time when the team they play for makes the decision to keep them on or let them go. Value is weighted based on what they can still offer their home team verses what they can offer in terms of filling […]

Is It Time To Extend Danny Salazar?

Danny Salazar is coming off his first full season as a professional and it was a good one. The young fire-balling phenom we all believed would lead us to playoff appearances in 2014 and beyond finally showed the promise that captivated us during his short 2013 debut season. Going into 2016, like the Indians as […]

GM Gossip: The Prospect of Overvaluing Prospects

After Alex Anthopoulos didn’t accept a contract extension largely because of a conversation with new Blue Jays president, Mark Shapiro, much has been said about the former Tribe GM and president. While most of that coming from sports writers and fans can be ignored, there was an interesting comment that deserves discussion told to Bob […]
